General Information

Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) are innovative open-enrollment high schools that allow students least likely to attend college an opportunity to receive both a high school diploma and a credential and/or an associate degree. The hallmark of the P-TECH model is its career focus and the provision of work-based education

At Merkel ISD, our P-TECH program is located within our High School, and serves students who have an interest in Web Design and Development careers. Students have the opportunity to attain the following certifications and degrees within the program:

  • Level 1 Certification: Front End Designer
  • Level 1 Certification: PHP Developer
  • Level 2 Certification: Web Developer
  • Applied Associate of Science in Web Design and Development

In order to provide students with technical skills and training, Merkel ISD has partnered with TSTC, Cisco College, and industry partners throughout the state. Students will take technical and academic dual enrollment classes, participate in work-based learning experiences, and receive certifications throughout their time in the program to ensure they are ready to join the workforce after graduation. The courses and certifications are offered at no cost to students.
